About the job:

The candidate will be responsible for the origination, due diligence, execution (including structuring and capital raising) and monitoring of equity investments in line with Aruwa’s investment strategy.

The candidate will assume a role in the modelling and analysis of equity transactions. The Candidate will be an integral member of the investment team and work closely with Investment team.

The candidate will be expected to develop a deep understanding of Aruwa’s long-term investment strategy and be able to articulate that knowledge internally and externally.

Responsibilities:

• Perform desktop analysis of pipeline investment opportunities;

• Conduct due diligence of target investment opportunities;

• Preparation of discussion papers and transaction proposals for the company’s Investment Committee;

• General running of deal teams, responsible for execution process, has decision-making responsibility and be one of the main points of contact externally for the business

• Pro-actively build and strengthen relationship with key stakeholders to enhance Aruwa brand in the market

• Review and comment on transaction agreements for proposed investment opportunities;

• Build relationships with management of portfolio companies;

• Assist the Portfolio team in preparation of quarterly reports on portfolio companies and the portfolio;

• Work closely with investee management teams, internal portfolio team and external partners on asset management of key portfolios, including leading critical value creation initiatives as an investor. Bring insights to the Board and senior management team that are critical to the business performance

Qualifications

• At least 2-3 years of investment banking experience

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or accounting is mandatory

• Graduate business degree, Chartered Accountant (CA), and/or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and/or MBA designations a plus but not required

• Significant experience performing complex financial analysis, modelling, company valuations, and comparable company analyses

Competencies:

• Sound judgment, particularly in valuation matters, with strong analytic skills; particularly DCF`s and LBO`s and the ability to talk through previous deals comprehensively when quizzed

• Superior interpersonal skills; demonstrated communication and presentation skills (oral and written)

• Proven experience in sourcing, executing and completing successful deals (end to end)

• Excellent investment judgement and “sense of the deal”

• Experience leading negotiations with multiple stakeholders and executing a wide range of agreements

• Preference for candidates already based in Lagos with local citizenship or work authorisation
