AVCA Announces New Board Leadership to Drive African Private Capital Forward

6 May 2025, London, UK | The African Private Capital Association (AVCA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Danladi Michael Verheijen, Co-Founder and CEO of Verod Capital Management, and Ann Wyman, Senior Partner at AfricInvest, as Chair and Vice Chair of AVCA's Board of Directors, effective immediately.

The appointments were confirmed at AVCA’s 21st Annual Conference held in Lagos, Nigeria—an event that convened leading investors, policymakers, and fund managers from across Africa and globally.

Mr Verheijen has been a dedicated AVCA Board member since 2017. In his role as Managing Partner at Verod, he has overseen the successful launch of three private equity funds and one venture capital fund through Verod-Kepple Africa Ventures. His deep industry expertise and track record as a pioneer in African private capital will be invaluable in guiding AVCA’s strategic direction.

Ms Wyman brings over 25 years of experience in investment, policy, and development finance in emerging markets. As Senior Partner at AfricInvest, she has led key initiatives to drive innovation and scale across the African investment landscape.

Abi Mustapha-Maduakor, CEO of AVCA, said:

“I am delighted to welcome Danladi Verheijen and Ann Wyman as AVCA's Board Chair and Vice Chair. Their deep industry knowledge and leadership experience will be instrumental as we drive forward a progressive agenda for private capital in 2025 and beyond. I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to Paul Botha and Genevieve Sangudi, the outgoing Board Chair and Vice Chair for their steadfast guidance and commitment over the past four years, which have left an undeniable mark on AVCA's development."

Danladi Verheijen, incoming Chair, added:

“I'm very excited to be taking on this new role at such a pivotal time. As an industry, we are undoubtedly facing challenges but I am more excited than ever by the opportunities ahead. I look forward to working with the AVCA team, Board and members to ensure we are supporting an innovative and resilient private capital ecosystem in Africa. I would like to thank the outgoing Chair, Paul Botha, for providing outstanding foundations for us to build on."

These leadership appointments come at an important time for private capital in Africa, as highlighted during the recent AVCA Conference in Lagos, and position the association to further strengthen its role as the champion of private investment across the continent.
