Besides the investment activity she conceived and developed new and innovative initiatives such as: (i) Boost Africa (a joint initiative between EIB, AfDB and the European Commission to support the nascent African Venture Capital industry); (ii) the Space for Med Acceleration Programme (a knowledge transfer mechanism between the European Space Agency and MENA entrepreneurs); (iii) the MENA Seed Accelerators Facility (a capacity building programme for MENA accelerators).
Since leaving EIB in 2019, Paola has worked as an independent consultant, undertaking several short and part-time assignments providing strategic advice on investing in frontier markets to a wide range of actors, including private equity firms, consultancies, DFIs, and governments. Her work has focused mostly on training and coaching fund managers to make them investment ready.
